BAKER n Bob, 79, Memphis, died May 6, 2008, at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown. Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1928 in Memphis to the late Louis Thomas and Janie Baker, was in sales for Bell-South for 47 years, graduate of the University of Memphis, member of Bellevue Baptist Church for 35 years, and an Army veteran. A graveside service was Friday, May 9 at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens, Southaven. Survived by wife of 47 years, Lois Baker, Memphis; son, Bobby Baker, Memphis; daughter, Alice Baker Fordham, Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Jane Haney, Olive Branch; and grandchild, Heather Fordham. The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Bellevue Baptist Church.

BAKER n Nanette W., 71, Arkabutla, passed away May 8, 2008, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. Visitation was held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10 with services following at 2:30 p.m., both at Pate-Jones Funeral Home, Senatobia. Burial, Surrette Cemetery, Arkabutla. FAIRCLOTH n Cody, 21, Southaven, died May 4, 2008. Born Nov. 27, 1986, in Hinds County, Miss., and was a factory worker for On Staff. FINCH n Lucille Ausborn, 87, Hernando, died May 8, 2008, at the Baptist Desoto Hospital. Born May 16, 1920, in Amory, lived in the Hernando and Southaven areas for the past 20 years, member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, both at the E. E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel, Amory. Burial, Haughton Memorial Park. Survived by daughter, Helen Weddle, Hernando; brothers, Vertis Ausborn Becker and Junior Ausborn, both of Amory; grandchildren, Bruce Weddle, Karen McNeil, Scott Weddle, and Amy Weddle; and six great-grandchildren. FORD n Marvin Lenaul, 46, Atlanta, Ga., died May 3, 2008. Born March 10, 1962, in Lake Cormorant, and accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Clarence Ford Jr. Leaves son, Marvin Lenaul Boyd; mother, Mae Ruth Ford; sisters, Annie Washington, Geneva Ford, Evelyn Ford-Smith (Anthony), Glouria Jean Ford-Echols (Jimmy), Joyce Ford, Sharon Ford-Johnson (Terrell); four brothers, Michael Lenaul Ford Sr. (Velda), Garry Ford (Vickie), Randy Ford, Dennis Ford (LaRonda); eleven nieces; twelve nephews; three great-nieces; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. HENDRIX n Nick, 20, Southaven, died May 4, 2008. Visitation was from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, May 8 with the memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, Southaven. Survived by mother, Suzanne Hendrix, Southaven; father, Butler “Chip” Hendrix, Cassadega, Fla.; sister, Becky Hendrix, Southaven; and grandparents, Hannah Southerns, Southaven; Gene Kobylarz, Southaven; and Butler and Jean Hendrix, Haskell, Okla. HINES n Henry Brooks, 72, Jackson, Tenn., died May 5, 2008. Born Dec. 23, 1953, in Fox, Ark. to Emery and Eula (Branscum) Hines and was a construction contractor. Survived by daughter, Peggy Miller, Bonner Springs, Kan.; sons, Steve Hines, Southaven; Roger Hinesand Keith Hines, Choctaw, Ark.; Shannon Hines, Norfolk, Va.; brother, Delmar Hines, Greenbrier, Ark.; sister, Lou Surles; five grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents; two brothers; and one sister. A private family memorial service is planned for a later date.

JARED n Rivers Anderson Hardy, 92, Olive Branch, died May 9, 2008. Preceded in death by husband, Earl Hardy; four brothers; and five sisters. PUGH n James Edd, 84, Memphis, passed away May 4, 2008. Survived by wife of 63 years, Ola Mae Pugh; daughters, Wanda Crossman, Horn Lake; Flora Overstreet Walls, Lora Crawford, Marlene Walls and Arlene Harris, all of Southaven; sons, Roy E. Pugh, Memphis; and Gerald Pugh, Yorkshire, England; sister, Clara Mae Gowen; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Member of Southaven Church of the Nazarene and worked as a senior structural project coordinator for an architectural company. RIDGEWAY n Bertie Pirtle, 83, Millington, died May 7, 2008. Preceded in death by husband, William Freddie Pirtle; son, Larry Pirtle; and brothers, James Griffin, Joseph Griffin, Richard Griffin. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery. Member of Forest Hill Irene Church of Christ, where she taught the Ladies Bible Class and Sunday School, and supporter of the Memphis School of Preaching. Worked for Dealers Automobile Auction, member of Horn Lake Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, spent more than two decades as an alderman serving 1973-1997, and was also veteran.
